San Jorge de Milpe Eco-Lodge is located in the Tropical Rainforest at San Jorge de Milpe Orchid & Bird Reserve.  It is a two hour drive from San Jorge/Quito, or 1:10 from San Jorge/Tandayapa.  This reserve offers pristine birding and hiking trails, natural running rivers, 11 cascading waterfalls, observatory decks with spectacular views of the upper tropical rainforest valley, 300 species of orchids, an enormous amount of moths, butterflies, reptiles, mammals and insects, plus, over 450 species of birds. Accommodations at the two story Eco-Lodge include double rooms with twin beds, private bath and hot shower, with wonderful views. Our latest addition offers optional spacious double/triple rooms with 3 sided windowed views, furnished with a queen and twin bed in each room. We have also developed our own organic gardens, which are used to prepare fresh and delicious meals at the lodge.  San Jorge de Milpe Eco-Lodge has the comfort and rustic elegance of a Tropical Rainforest lodge, making it ideal for birding, hiking naturalist tours, photography, eco-adventures, a romantic getaway, or an educational retreat.

Unique to San Jorge de Milpe Orchid & Bird Reserve is our one of a kind, Bird Observatory Hilltop.  With only a 10 minute walk from your sleeping quarters, walking through the tropical forest conserved by San Jorge, one will have the chance on a clear day to spot an average of 50 bird species between 6 am and 9 am without even taking a step!  The record number for our Milpe Bird Observatory Hilltop was 68 species in three hours. The Bird Observatory Hilltop lies above the canopy of the Milpe Rainforest, offering a magnificent 360º view of the surrounding area. Milpe has set the world record for number of bird species in one area, making San Jorge de Milpe Orchid & Bird Reserve an excellent location for world-class birding.
